I have a confession. I love kool-aid.
I enjoy creating new combinations of dense, cheek-sucking flavours. I name them things like SourGasm and Slip Whistle, and, while I don't normally give out my recipes, I will let you in on a secret: if you combine Grape with Arctic Apple, it tastes exactly like a purple sweet tart.
San Francisco is not friendly to kool-aid lovers. They tend to carry only the most rudimentary flavours. Six, to be exact: Fruit Punch, Grape, Cherry, Black Cherry, Lemonade, and Orange. The mid-west, though soul-numbing, was a kool-aid lover's playground. I miss Berry Blue. I miss the Arctic sub-set of flavours that contain a mysterious and slightly disconcerting chemical that makes you feel as though you are drinking an IcyHot patch.
Oh yeah.
